673 - Tsitsernakaberd (or Dsitsernakaberd, Dsidsernakaberd) - The Armenian Genocide memorial.

Day 6 – visit Republic Square in Yerevan early am, then the Armenian Genocide memorial (Tsitsernakaberd), then do trip from Yerevan > Ashtarak > Spitak > Vanadzor > Kurtan (navigation error, turn around) > Vanadzor > Debed River Canyon > Alaverdi with the UNESCO listed Sanahin and Hagepat monasteries nearby > back to Yerevan. Detours via mountain passes and pretty country roads that turned out to be pretty awful country roads.

Armenia – day 1 of a one week stay – arrival at Yerevan airport in the morning, find hostel accommodation, walk around Yerevan city – Yerevan Metro, St Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral, Republic Square, Armenia History Museum, Northern Ave pedestrian boulevard, Yeravan Opera House and nearby cafe bar area, Swan Lake.

Cafesjian Art Center Yerevan

Cafesjian Art Centre Yerevan (Cafesjian Center for the Arts, Kafesjian, CCA), Cascades, and Statue Garden. Also called the Cafesjian Museum of Art, Cafesjian Museum of Contemporary Art, Cafesjian Museum Foundation (CMF). The Cascade is a large staircase built into the side of a hill north of Yerevan city center, inside is the Cafesjian Art Center. There are statues and a garden at the bottom of the Cascades. The top of the Cascades is a good spot for views and photos of Yerevan and Mt Ararat.

Cascade Yerevan

Yerevan Cascade complex or monument is a structure built into the side of a hill in the northern part of Yerevan city (Erevan). The Cascades has steps and art displays on the outside, the Cafesjian Art Center Museum underneath, and a statue garden at the bottom.

Matenadaran Museum

The Matenadaran Museum in Yerevan, or Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, is a large building with a collection of 50,000 or 100,000 (not sure which number is correct, but a lot anyway) ancient and medieval maps, books and manuscripts, apparently one of the largest collections in the world.
